    Informative Scaringe Interview

Good video. Get to see the Rivian factory in pre-production stage assembling an R1T while Scaringe answers questions. Rivian is going to be shipping three different vehicles next year, the truck, suv and an Amazon delivery vehicle. He called the truck and suv halo vehicles meaning they are...

Mid 2021 for R1T and R1S vehicles confirmed

But I'll just throw this into the mix. As you know, all EVs to date haven't had much ability to extract meaningful electrical power from the car. And I'm not talking V2G, I mean like having 120V or 240V plugs. Elon has hinted that Tesla's Cybertruck will finally have significant 240V (and 120V)...

Mid 2021 for R1T and R1S vehicles confirmed

And I would ask you tons of questions, but I know you aren't allowed to answer any of them, so I'll spare you!

Congrats! Hopefully it is a busy company? Lots of stuff going on? I still have the SUV on order. Hurry up Rivian!!

Mid 2021 for R1T and R1S vehicles confirmed

Thank you, my one and only hardcore member :) I'm exaggerating, of course. I haven't been posting a lot here since not a lot has happened. The announcement dates for first delivery is the first "real" news Rivian has given us for at least six months if not longer. I suppose the $2.5B recent...

Mid 2021 for R1T and R1S vehicles confirmed

From a Rivian email and twitter: R1T deliveries will begin June 2021. R1S deliveries will begin August 2021. BTW, it is pretty obvious that this site isn't getting any viewership. Should I just shut it down? There are other Rivian sites that have active communities.

    Headroom & Self Parking

The only thing I can suggest is to call Rivian.

    Headroom & Self Parking

No. It's been just over a year since Rivian gave us details, but pretty much radio silence since.

    Availability in Canada

I have not heard anything. Frankly,we're waiting to hear about US delivery plans. Rivian does not seem to be building any stores, let alone service and support centers.

Is the CCS charging network good enough?

Yes, Ford's investment in Rivian probably precludes partnering with Tesla. Which is probably one reason why Rivian didn't partner with Tesla in the first place - they wanted to keep their options open for other partnerships to raise money since Rivian seems to like to spend money (at least on...

Is the CCS charging network good enough?

I don't disagree Cougs. Here's what a ski trip looks for me (I'm in California so I am fortunate to have lots of both Tesla and CCS charging options). I used A Better Routeplanner to do these calculations. I assumed a long range latest Tesla Model X, which could be approx. comparable to the...

3 early 2020 events Rivian will be hosting or attending

What part of the country are you in?

    Why I like the R1S

It's a bit more than that. For the latest ski trip, we had four people with 2 ski bags with skis, 8 pieces of luggage and misc. bags. And we didn't even have to use the frunk. Good luck getting that into a sedan with hatchback. Also, I can comfortably carry five people, each with their own seat...

Is the CCS charging network good enough?

Yes, in the past Elon has stated that other manufacturers would have to help pay for the Supercharger network. Although no official dollar amount was ever stated, the Tesla discussion forums thought it would amount to about $2,000 per car. But that was when all Teslas had free unlimited...

    Who has reserved and why?

FYI, Tesla typically charges its customers $0.28/kWh. And even at that, they are probably still subsidizing their Supercharger network.

Is the CCS charging network good enough?

Interesting. Hydro Quebec does have some of the lowest electricity rates in North America. And I also wouldn't be surprised if there was a subsidy on top of it since Quebec is pushing green energy very hard. BTW, this shows the folly of trying to compare $/kWh rates from what you could get at...

Is the CCS charging network good enough?

I do understand why other EV manufacturers stayed away from Tesla charging compatibility. It feels too much like helping out a competitor. And if your sedan isn’t quite as good as a Model S or Model 3, the last thing you want is your customers comparing notes with Tesla drivers at every...

Is the CCS charging network good enough?

Well, we know why Tesla went proprietary in the first place - they were ahead of the standards. The standards weren't anywhere good enough for what Tesla needed at the time. And while CCS and Chademo duke it out as "official" standards, the reality is that in 2019 in the US, over 62% of new...

Is the CCS charging network good enough?

Elon has consistently said that they would partner with anyone IF they pay for access. Ie. You can’t use the Supercharger network for free. Tesla now charges most new Tesla car owners fees for amount of energy used, but Tesla is no doubt still subsidizing the costs somewhat. So I’m pretty...
